FAQ

1. What is the UFDD ?

a. The UFDD is a Uniform Franchise Disclosure Document provided to the prospective franchisee that includes a compilation of information on the franchise/franchisor.  Most states and the Federal Trade Commission require that specific information be disclosed to the prospective buyer prior to being offered a franchise.

2. How much does a franchise cost to open?

a. The UFDD provides ranges of costs to open and operate one of our concepts.  As with any business, costs vary depending on the local area and from state to state.  The UFDD will provide more information.

3. How long does it take to open a restaurant:

a. The time span associated with opening a new restaurant varies depending on your availability, the model of restaurant chosen, site selection, construction, and training. It can range from 6 months to 18 months.

4. How much assistance is available?

a. We provide assistance to our franchisees every step of the way. If you have any questions or need help, please don’t hesitate to ask. If we don’t have an immediate answer, we will get one for you.

5. What areas are available?

a. Most markets have growth ability for all of our concepts. We have an aggressive expansion plan and we will work with you to find the best site.

6. Who will find the site for my new restaurant location?

a. You are responsible for find the location with the assistance of our development team as well as a commercial real estate broker who specializes in retail-restaurant properties. Your site selection is subject to Baja Fresh review and approval.

7. Do I lease the property where the restaurant is located from Canyons Burger Company?

a. No, you negotiate your own lease from the landlord at the location in which you choose to open.

8. How many restaurants can I operate?

a. Your resources will determine the number of locations you can operate.

9. Can I own other brands?

a. Yes, as long as they are “Non-competing” brands.

10. Can I sell my restaurant in the future?

a. Yes. You are permitted to sell your restaurant to a qualified and approved buyer. If you choose to sell your restaurant, you will need to contact the development team to discuss further.

11. Am I expected be in my restaurant and run it daily?

a. Most of our operators are “hands-on,” and as such, the business necessitates a considerable degree of daily supervision.  If you have a general manager or operator, you daily involvement could be less.

12. What is “ServSafe”?

a. ServSafe is a program designed to train individuals in the basic food safety and sanitation standards required by the restaurant and food service industry.   The course is taught in various venues for a nominal fee.  You are required to be ServSafe certified to enter our franchise training program.

13. Do I have to attend and Complete Training?

a. Yes. You will need to know how the business is managed and operated to be successful.  We will arrange training for you and your operator/general manager.

14. Where do I go for training?

a. We estimate 6-8 weeks in the nearest approved and available training store.

15. Do I have to purchase all of my restaurant products (equipment, food, packaging etc) from Canyons Burger Company vendors and distributors?

a. We have developed a system of purchasing to maintain product quality, competitive pricing and efficient distribution. We require our franchisees to purchase through our distribution network.

16. What is the “Marketing Fund?”

a. Each franchisee is required to contribute to the National Marketing Fund, or “MDF.” Funds contributed to the MDF are utilized for national and local marketing programs intended to increase sales and drive customers into Canyons Burger Company restaurants.

17. Do you advertise on TV?

a. Depending on the market and costs you may have some access to television advertising.

18. Do you assist with Marketing?

a. We have a marketing department that provides a number of resources and will work with you to develop a marketing plan specific to your location.

19. What are my potential profits after opening the restaurant?

a. Your financial success is very much attributed to your personal involvement and resources allocated into the business.  Thus, we can’t tell you how much you will make, as it is greatly dependent upon your drive, determination and your will to run a successful operation.

Canyons Burger Company is a Fresh American Burger Concept looking to change the way quick casual burgers are served! We are expanding and opportunities are limitless in both domestic and international markets. We offer three different design footprints allowing for restaurant sites in both traditional and non traditional venues and markets.

Our “Base Camp” is our traditional fast casual restaurant design specifically for high profile metro, urban and suburban locations, with heavy office saturation or lifestyle centers which meet the basic demographic profile listed below.

For non-traditional venues we offer our “Canyons Outpost” design. Combining a shared kitchen and seating area, the Outpost offers high quality burgers in venues such as Colleges & Universities, Hospitals, and Airports.

Another opportunity to consider is the “Baja Fresh Canyons Co-Brand.”   By co-branding the Canyons Base Camp with our sister concept Baja Fresh Mexican Grill, build sales volume by offering a duo-dining experience to the same consumer audience.
